Research Interests

My research focuses on the population dynamics of chironomid midges in lakes across northeastern Iceland. I compare populations and communities across locations to examine when their dynamics align, when they diverge, and how these patterns change over time. My goal is to better understand how local conditions and broader environmental changes shape freshwater communities by examining long-term trends and potential environmental drivers.

What made you choose this program at UW–Madison?

I chose UW–Madison to continue my collaboration with the Ives Lab, whose long-standing research at Lake Mývatn in Iceland closely aligns with my research interests. I was also drawn to the university’s strong ecological research legacy. Plus, the campus is beautiful!
