Research Interests
I primarily study freshwater ecosystems to understand how they vary in time and space. The Midwestern US has a variety of working and natural landscapes that rely on freshwater resources. Currently, I have projects focused on the carbon storage of urban ponds, the long-term changes in Wisconsin lakes, and the relationship between wetland area and ecosystem services within watersheds.

What made you choose this program at UW–Madison?
I chose UW because I wanted to learn how ask ecological questions at the landscape scale in Dr. Turner’s Ecosystem and Landscape Ecology Lab. There were opportunities to research ecological processes in working landscapes (urban and agricultural) which really interested me. UW–Madison also has a rich history of ecological research, especially for aquatic systems which was impressive. Finally, Madison is a pretty nice place to live!
