Research Interests
Arachnid venom systems have emerged independently three times in the spiders, scorpions and pseudoscorpions. I am interested in the gene regulatory networks underlying the development of venom glands in these taxa. Are there shared genes involved in patterning the venom glands in all three groups, and when in evolutionary time were these genes co-opted?
